My Story
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to browse through my page. My name is Kris, and there is no way I can describe my person in 300 words, but I will do my best.
I’ll start with an overview of some of my current interests! I’ve been trying to connect more meaningfully with some of my passions/hobbies lately, including: my field of psychotherapy, watching/playing basketball, music of all kinds (especially J. Cole), video games, and reading non-fiction books. I also live with a 5lb Chihuahua mix named Lux, who has been endlessly loyal since 2017. For my few Saab appreciators out there, I drive an ‘03 9-5 Aero!
Moving on to my journey, I grew up moving every few years, living in areas all across Southern California, the son of an educator and a food-service waiter. Having been raised in a split household since before my first birthday, by two people who immigrated to this country as young adults with little-to-no English language skills, there were many lessons about life in America that I had to learn the hard way. And the hard way tends to hurt a bit more.
After facing academic probation and being threatened with dismissal, I graduated from UCLA in June of 2022 and moved to Chicago in July, soon thereafter. Since then, I spent some time working at the Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde Park, where I reside, and then decided to pursue graduate school at the University of Chicago. Fast forward two years, and here I am as an associate psychotherapist at ECC!
